Fix Dirty Bomb freezes



I have been getting a bit annoyed at random freezes in Dirty Bomb despite having a high end system. I am using a Zotac 1080TI extreme and getting the highest frame rate you can get in the game as it is limited to 180. Despite this, I have been getting regular issues with frames freezing every few seconds as the game is not very well optimised. Thankfully, I have now found a solution!


You will need to load the shooterenging.ini file which is located here:

C:\Users\ your user name here\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config\ShooterEngine.ini


Pop open ShooterEngine.ini with any text editor and search for "TextureGroup". You should find several lines that look something like this:


TEXTUREGROUP_World=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0) TEXTUREGROUP_WorldNormalMap=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0) TEXTUREGROUP_WorldSpecular=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0) TEXTUREGROUP_Character=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=2048,LODBias=0)


Of they have extra text in within the brackets do not worry it is the correct line. You will need to replace the lines above with the following;


TEXTUREGROUP_World=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0,NumStreamedMips=0) TEXTUREGROUP_WorldNormalMap=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0,NumStreamedMips=0) TEXTUREGROUP_WorldSpecular=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0,NumStreamedMips=0) TEXTUREGROUP_Character=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=2048,LODBias=0,NumStreamedMips=0)


Save the file. Then right click on the file and make it read only. You need to do this so Dirty Bomb does not write over it. If you had some freezing/micro stutters should now be gone!
